The Marion County Youth Football League (MCYFL) program requires all players, volunteers, parents, guardians, and fans to understand and follow our Code of Conduct:

We, the MCYFL have implemented the Code of Conduct for the messages it holds about the proper role of parents in supporting their child(ren) in football. Parents should read, understand and sign this form prior to their child(ren)'s participation in the MCYFL football program. Any parent guilty of improper conduct at any game or practice will be asked to leave the facility and be suspended from attending the following game. Repeat violations may cause multiple game suspensions for their child(ren) or the season forfeiture of the privilege of their child(ren) to participate in MCYFL's football program.

The essential elements of character-building and ethics in sports are embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and six core principles: TRUSTWORTHINESS, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, FAIRNESS, CARING, AND GOOD CITIZENSHIP

MCYFL CODE OF CONDUCT

The Marion County Youth Football League (MCYFL) program requires all players, volunteers, parents, guardians and fans to understand, and follow, our Code of Conduct:

We, the MCYFL, have implemented the following Code of Conduct for the important messages it holds about the proper role of parents in supporting their child in football. Parents should read, understand and sign this form prior to their child(ren) participation in MCYFL football program. Any parent guilty of improper conduct at any game or practice will be asked to leave the facility, and be suspended from the following game. Repeat violations may cause multiple game suspensions for their child(ren), or the season forfeiture of the privilege of their child(ren) to participate in MCYFL’s football program.

The essential elements of character-building and ethics in sports are embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and six core principals: TRUSTWORTHINESS, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, FAIRNESS, CARING AND GOOD CITIZENSHIP.

The highest potential in sports is achieved when competition reflects these Six Pillars of Character. I, as a parent or guardian, therefore agree:

____ 1. I will encourage my child to participate in MCYFL football program, including practices, parent meetings, fundraisers, and games.

____ 2. I will remember that children participate to have fun, and that the game is about them,  not me.

____ 3. Iwill inform the coach of any physical or mental disability, injury or sickness that may affect the safety of my child, or the safety of others.

____ 4. I will read and learn the rules of the game and policies of the MCYFL. See MCYFL.us.

____ 5. Iwill be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect, courtesy, and demonstrating positive support of all players, coaches, officials, and spectators  at every practice and game.

____ 6. I will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player,  guardian or parent, such as taunting; refusing to shake hands with your opponent after the game; or using profane language or gestures. No fighting or fighting words. *Please be advised that the unlawful touching or striking of a game official is a felony offense in Florida.

____ 7. I will discourage any behavior that may endanger the health and well-being of the players.

____ 8. I will teach my child to play by the rules and only by the rules, and resolve any conflicts,  without resorting to violence, hostile conduct or indignant words.

____ 9. I will encourage that my child treat other players, coaches, officials, and spectators with  respect, regardless of race, color, creed, nationality, sex or disability.

____ 10. I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my  child will never feel defeated by the outcome of the game or his/her performance.

____ 11. I will praise my child for competing fairly and trying hard.

____ 12. I will never ridicule or yell at my child, or other participants, for making a mistake or  losing.

____ 13. I will promote the emotional and physical well-being of all the players ahead of any personal desire I may have for my child’s team to win a game.

____ 14. I will respect the officials and their authority during games, and will never question,  discuss or confront coaches at the game field, and will take time to confer with coaches and attend parent meetings. * I understand that Coaches have the right to instruct me to leave if I am disruptive and if I decline, to have law enforcement give any player, parent or person a trespass warning from the practice field. Trespass is a misdemeanor.

____ 15. I will demand a sports environment from my child that is free from drugs, tobacco,  and alcohol, and I will refrain from their use at all MCYFL events.

____ 16. I will not coach my child, or other players, during games or practices, unless I am  one of the official coaches of the team.

____ 17. Only players, coaches, and system volunteers are allowed on the practice and playing  fields, with the only exception being if your child appears to be injured.

____ 18. Players will be at practice on time, properly equipped and with adequate water (and  only water).

____ 19. Unexcused absences may result in loss of playing time and multiple unexcused absences are  grounds for dismissal from the team.

____ 20. No firearms or other deadly weapons are allowed during games and practices.

____ 21. Consent to search my child’s backpack or athletic bag at practice, and at field, by law enforcement.

____ 22. I will read these Rules to my child and instruct him or her accordingly, until I am fully  satisfied that he or she understands the Code.

____ 23. I am fully responsible for returning all football equipment issued to my child within 3 days  to the head coach if he or she quits or is dismissed from the team. If not, then immediately  after the last game at the Equipment Room.

Adherence to the Code of Conduct is required! Refusal to abide by these Rules will result in my ejection from the field and facility, the issuance of trespass warning by law enforcement, and if continued, my child’s expulsion from participation in MCYFL.

I have read, understand, and agree to the Code of Conduct with the Marion County Youth Football League at all MCYFL sanctioned events.
