MCYFL CHEERLEADING COVID-19 PROTOCOL

UNIFORM SIZING:


All coaches shall inform each parent about guidelines 1-5, prior to uniform sizing.

  1. Any coach, parent or cheerleader who has symptoms of an illness, including, but not limited to, fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, nausea and/or vomiting, shall not report to uniform sizing. If the cheerleader or parent is sick, the cheerleader will be rescheduled to another date.

  2. All cheerleaders and accompanying parents must wear a cloth face covering to uniform sizing per CDC recommendations. Cheerleaders or parents that do not have on a face covering will not be permitted inside of the field house. All cheerleaders shall wear socks or bring socks to sizing. If the cheerleader does not have socks they will not be permitted to try on shoes. All cheerleaders must wear a one-piece bathing suit underneath their clothes. The bathing suit will remain on while trying on the uniform pieces. All returning cheerleaders who plan to use last year’s uniform must wear it and have it approved by a board member during sizing.

  3. Parents will be encouraged to bring cash, money order or check to pay the uniform fee.

  4. The Head Coach will designate an area on Field B for the team to meet. Tents will be set-up on

    the field to offer shade and the 4 Pavilions on the field will also be available. Each cheerleader must maintain 6 feet of separation on the field. If a team elects to sit in the bleachers, social distancing must be practiced.

  5. Cheerleaders and parents will be asked to use hand sanitizer upon entry into the sizing room and upon leaving.

  6. All coaches must wear cloth face coverings to uniform sizing. The Head Coach must check in at Table 1 outside of the Field House upon arrival. Table 1 will be located outside of the entrance of the Field House. At table 1 the Head Coach will receive a uniform accessory form to fill out if she has not done so. The Head Coach will be directed to line up the team at the sign at the entrance of the field house five minutes prior to the team’s designated sizing time, distancing each girl by 6 feet.

  7. Only 3 cheerleaders will be permitted to enter the sizing room at a time. The Board member at table 1 will direct the cheerleaders to enter the sizing room. Hand sanitizer will be available at Table 1 and must be used prior to entering the sizing room. The parent may enter with the cheerleader after using hand sanitizer and must wait in the designated seats assigned in the sizing room. The designated seats will be on opposite sides of the room to ensure social distancing. Only 3 board members will be permitted in the sizing room at a time. At no time shall there be more than 10 people in the sizing room, including board members. Each board member will be designated to a work zone on opposite sides of the room. All Board members will wear a cloth face covering to comply with CDC recommendations. Hand sanitizer will be available at all work zones and must be used by board members in between each cheerleader. Sample shoes will be disinfected in between use. All pens used by parents will be cleaned with disinfectant wipes in between use.

  8.  After the cheerleader has sized, the cheerleader will be asked to wait outside of Field House B while the parent finalizes payment in the registration room. There will be two board members at the registration table to finalize payments. Hand sanitizer will be available at the registration table. All pens used by parents shall be cleaned with disinfectant wipes in between use. Board members must sanitize their hands in between parent transactions. No chairs will be available for the parents to sit down in this area.

 

CHEER CAMP:

  1. Any cheerleader that has symptoms of an illness, including, but not limited to, fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, nausea and/or vomiting, may not participate in cheer camp. If the cheerleader is sick, a refund may be requested.

  2. On the first day of cheer camp, parents must wear cloth face coverings to the registration table. There will be one registration table for each division. One board member or volunteer will work at each table. All board members and volunteers must wear cloth face coverings. There will be no seats available for parents at the tables. All pens used by parents shall be cleaned in between use with disinfectant wipes. Hand sanitizer will be available at the table. Cheerleaders will be directed to sit six (6) feet apart in the bleachers on Field A while waiting for camp to begin.

  3. After all cheerleaders have arrived, cheerleaders will be separated by Division and instructed to go to their designated area on Field A or Field B.

  4. On the field, all participants must practice social distancing and be positioned 6 feet apart.

  5. All participants will receive a water bottle and a bag. The cheerleader must write her name on

    the bottle to easily identify it. Sharing of water bottles or bags will not be permitted.

  6. Cooling tents will be set-up on Field A and Field B. Volunteers must wear cloth face coverings.

    Volunteers in the cooling tents may fill up water bottles after the cheerleader has removed the lid entirely. Volunteers will not be permitted to touch the cheerleaders water bottle lid. The water nozzle shall not touch any surface which has been exposed to the cheerleader’s mouth. Cheerleaders are not permitted to fill up their own water bottle.

  7. If food or snacks are served at the camp, all volunteers handling food and drinks must wear cloth face coverings and gloves. All volunteers must wash hands prior to and after handling food. Foods and snacks will be bagged prior to distribution. Hand sanitizer will be available at the concession stand and must be used by cheerleaders prior to receiving food. Cheerleaders will be instructed to report to the concession stand by division and will stand on tape markers at the concession stand to ensure they are standing 6 feet apart. Cheerleaders will be instructed to use hand sanitizer or wash her hands prior to eating.

  8. Individually packaged condiments will be available. Multi-use containers shall not be used.

  9.  If there is a demonstration on the last day of camp, parents will be instructed to practice social distancing in the stands and wear cloth face coverings.


PRACTICES/GAMES:

  1. Any cheerleader or coach that has symptoms of an illness may not participate in practice or attend a game. This includes but not limited to fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, nausea and/or vomiting. If the cheerleader is sick, the absence shall not be punitive.

  2. All coaches and parent/visitors must wear a cloth face covering at practices and at the games. Parents/visitors are encouraged to wait in their vehicles at practice. If the parent or visitor is at practice, social distancing must be maintained. At the games, parents/visitors must practice social distancing.

  3. Cheer coaches may remove the face covering if it interferes with teaching but should ensure she is at least 6 feet apart from the cheerleaders.

  4. All cheerleaders must practice social distancing at practice and on the field. The head coach shall assign cheerleading staggers to achieve this goal.

  5. All cheerleaders must have her own water bottle with a clear name label so it is easily identified. Sharing of water bottles will not be permitted. Cheerleaders may not share bags.

  6. The head coach shall make available hand sanitizer at practices. Hand sanitizer will be available at the field on game day in designated areas.

  7. Cheerleaders may not share poms. Cheerleaders must take poms home with them after each practice and after each game. Coaches may not collect the team’s poms and store them together.

  8. Practices and games shall be no-touch. For example: cheerleaders shall not engage in activities such as handshaking, fist bumps, hugs, or any unnecessary physical contact.
